Die Coopérative Cité Derrière wurde 1995 gegründet und hat sich auf den Bau von Wohnungen mit erschwinglichen Mieten und angepassten Wohnungen mit Begleitung (Lada) spezialisiert. Die meisten ihrer Gebäude werden mit Unterstützung des Kantons und der jeweiligen Gemeinde realisiert, wobei diese Institutionen die Mieten kontrollieren. Die Genossenschaft ist als gemeinnützig anerkannt und verfolgt keine Gewinnabsicht. Alle Einnahmen werden zugunsten der Gebäude reinvestiert. Die Genossenschaft ist Mitglied der Association romande des maîtres d’ouvrage d’utilité publique (ARMOUP).
