About the house

The Alte Bäckerei is a residential building with four differently sized units and, since summer 2025, a certified small organic farm (Kleinst-Biohof) with a large productive garden, sheep and fruit trees. The project is based on self-management and communal living; participation in the small farm is expected and is compensated with in-kind remuneration (Naturallohn).

• Current household: three adults (early 40s to late 50s) and one teenager
• Active areas: education, art/culture, social pedagogy and circular economy
• Shared activities: gardening, processing food, communal meals, monthly house meetings and shared responsibilities

Requirements

Applicants should have experience with and willingness for communal living, self-management and agricultural work, and be prepared to take on responsibilities.

Financial and contractual conditions

• Rent: CHF 1,183 / month (base rent CHF 1,038 + ancillary costs CHF 145; plus share of guest/common room)
• Mandatory loan (Pflichtdarlehen): CHF 21,000
• Cooperative share certificate (Anteilschein): CHF 2,000 per adult tenant
